Packshot of Designs for a Happy Home

Designs for a Happy Home

Matthew Reynolds (Author)

This novel starts in the format of a selfhelp book written by a successful interior designer, Alizia Tame. There’s a dreadful smugness and self-satisfaction in the beginning, but as Alizia’s perfectly designed life slowly starts to reveal itself as less than happy, the reader‘s sympathy is engaged. As chapter by chapter we are witness to Alizia’s awakening, this book takes hold and results in a brilliantly unusual story. I think that reading groups will particularly love this book as it offers so much for discussion. Although the author has written books and essays before, this is his first novel and I hope it will not be his last. Definitely one to watch out for.
