When Patrick Henshaw is found brutally murdered, the main suspects are his young wife and her lover. Even when Henshaw’s business partner is murdered in the same way, the police still wonder whether the lovers could have committed the two murders. Only Detective Inspector Geraldine Steel has her doubts. She feels that there is someone else out there committing these horrific murders. Then when another body is found she knows she needs to find this killer before anyone else is murdered.

I really enjoyed this novel. In fact I couldn’t put it down. Leigh Russell has crafted her characters beautifully. I found myself sympathising with Det. Ins. Geraldine Steel when each of her leads came to a dead end, while I got annoyed with her sergeant, Samantha Haley, who thought her opinions were always right. I felt like telling her to shut up! The story has a good strong plot, with several red herrings to keep you guessing right up until the very end. A definite must read for crime thriller fans everywhere.

Reading groups will find much to discuss.
