I recently watched the TV Book Club for the first time but couldn’t understand why they’d decided to film it in the foyer of the Crossroads motel. And much as I approve of any media coverage that encourages reading and talking about books it did seem a motley crew of celebs.

However, my interest was in Catherine O’Flynn and her new book The News Where You Are which I’m about to dive into having loved What Was Lost (sorry, Jean). Catherine was a delight at a Guildford Readers Day a couple of years ago and was just as charming and unassuming on screen. A delight!

Unfortunately, I’m struggling with The Long Song even though I loved Small Island. I think it’s the inconsistency of the voice of the narrator but suspect that’s down to me rather than Ms Levy.
